Princella Smith rocks

Ms. Smith is one fine public figure. I like her presentation, her perspective, and she has a kind smile. My biggest disappointment was finding she is too young to run for Vice President in 08. Rats.

I caught a glimpse of Platform of the American People chief advocate Princella Smith, she appeared on a panel recorded August 6, 2008, and televised yesterday on CSPAN. Ms. Smith spoke, and answered questions. She was awesome – articulate, focused, polite and generous, knowledgeable.

And she is devoted to the Republican party. Which I have to respect.

I personally hold some bitter disappointments with the Republican party. Bob Dole was a shame and a sham as a candidate. His basic qualification seemed to be that he held the next ticket in line, and got there by seniority. I could not see that Dole qualified for the race – he lacked charisma, he didn’t bring anything new and valuable in terms of acquaintances or initiatives – a dud. He was probably qualified for the office, but many people are qualified to accept the job of President – that doesn’t mean most of us should be given the opportunity, nor does it mean we would be qualified for the election cycle. Dole wasn’t.

McCain was Senator in Arizona while I lived there – and I just didn’t see why he got elected in a fair election. He seemed scary, like he had greased palms and threatened families, so he expected opponents to give way before him. Then he outdid himself in the primaries this year – proving lack of conviction as well as lack of character, lack of enough unmushed brain to recall pertinent facts, and a general lack of believability.

I don’t like the arrogant structure of the Republican party, heavily slanted to good old boys. Look how closely the Republicans narrowly avoided losing to Al Gore eight years ago.

President Bush is not the worst possible person for the Presidency. But the Republicans have cast their lot with Democrats to join in villifying a reasonable man doing a reasonable job – at least reasonable considering the disrespect and corrupt actions of the Democratic-led Congress.

While I have qualms about the Republican Party, I note that most of the details that Princella Smith used to portray her faith in the Republicans – were historical.

And I was moved by how she spoke.

Dang, I wish she were old enought
