Goodbye to Eddie Arnold
May 8th, 2008
“Eddy Arnold, The Tennessee Plowboy and his Guitar,” gentleman and star Country, Gospel, and Pop singer, passed away this morning at the age of 89.
Make the World Go Away, Cattle Call, What’s He Doin’ In My World?, In The Misty Moonlight, Bouquet Of Roses, and many other hits entertained America for decades. One song I recall fondly was a 45 RPM release, ‘Aura Lee‘. “Seems a long, long, time to count to ten / while you’re waiting / Pretty Aura Lee” It might be 35 or 40 years since I played that record, and I don’t recall hearing it on the radio or elsewhere.
Stately in appearance, circumspect in his reputation, and a delight to listen to.
I’m glad I heard his music.
