What kind of car did he buy?
I watched the leggy, thin blonde emerge from the canary yellow ‘vette. The driver was a bit older than his lady, and a bit past ’stocky’. And it occurred to me, that guys invested in a ‘dream’ car would also want a dream girl. Not a woman as a mate, companion, or co-parent, but a symbol that enhances the automobile.
Ladies, does your man see you as a woman to grow old with, to co-parent his children, or are you there only as long as you make his car, his career, and his mansion look better to whomever he intends to impress? Look at his car, for one thing. If it costs twice what a modest family car would cost, you probably need to work on staying slim and keeping your mouth shut. If the car is three years old, and they built more than 1,000 in that model year, then focus more on understanding him, on building trust and respect between you.
I am sure there is a place for ‘car enthusiasts’, but many that I grew up with never really gave up the interest in the car enough to care about the woman next to him/her, only whether they were as ‘hot’ as the car. That also means they are no more loyal to their woman/man than they are to last year’s cars. You either fill their fantasy role for them, or you lose them. You may make out with pre-nuptial agreements and separation/divorce suits, but not in terms of a life companion.
So look around for those with the hottest car, and put them at the head of the list titled ‘Avoid this sucker for anything serious’. In my opinion.
