Song lines
Back in Disco days, Abba recorded ‘One of Us’, which the A*Teens covered. I like the lyrics, the title line of regrets fits so very much of my day, many days. “One of us needs to get to work.” “One of us is hungry.” I live alone.
Well, me and the livestock.
I use the “One of us” phrase quite often, when talking to myself.
I saw National Treasure 2 again tonight. Randy Travis sings a couple of snippets of his signature songs, including “Is it still over?” “Is it still over, are we still through? Since my phone still ain’t ringin’ I assume it still ain’t you!” That last line actually came up in a conversation with a customer a week ago.
For more than a year now, I have been listening to a radio station out of Tulsa, Mix 96 (96.5 FM). I describe the station as chicks singing ‘Feel the rain on your skin’, ‘Nothing but a t-shirt on’, and ‘Take off all your crappy clothes’. These are actually pretty good songs, but those phrases stick with me. Mix 96 plays a semi-eclectic mix of light jazz and young adult contemporary. Lots of Kelly Clarkson. Very ‘John Tesh’y.
Any music phrases that haunt others?
