Sen. Boxer/Sen. Clinton and ‘Time of War

Today is the second inaugural for Pres. Bush. And I am upset.

I consider the partisan politics of Senator Barbara Boxer from California to be abhorent, blatantly self-serving, and offensive. As I understand the reporting, Sen. Boxer intends to blow up a Contragate conflagration in Congress to despite the president. That is the reason, on the eve of the inauguration, Sen. Boxer is oh-so-appalled that Sec’y of State candidate Condoleeza Rice spoke the messages given to her on the eve of the Iraqi invasion.

An extremely expensive lesson learned by our mature citizens during World War II — “Loose Lips Sink Ships”. Whether there was an intentional dis-informational campaign on the part of the Bush administration, and if there was whether there was intent to further military, international diplomatic goals, or to protect political careers or the authority of the presidency on the eve of armed conflict — I don’t care at this point. As I recall the announcements and pronouncements at the time, I felt that the claims of Weapons of Mass Distruction were formulated to sway American opinion — whether to further private agendas of the administration or to further diplomatic or military agendas, again I Don’t Care.

What I saw this morning — Sen. Boxer stealing national air time to pronounce ‘We Are In A Time Of War — which I interpret to mean Sen. Boxer’s war on the Republican administration — from coverage of the second inauguration irritated me. It seems abundantly clear to me that the whole idea of the Democratic party grandstanding on the nomination of Ms. Rice is two-fold: Embarass the president at the beginning of his second term in office, and to blatantly manipulate national media coverage and public opinion in favor of an unofficial bid for the presidency — by Hilary Clinton.

Ms. Clinton has certainly shown her complete lack of morals and ethics — for instance, supporting inexcusable behavior and illegal activity on the part of Bill Clinton, not to mention her own activities snowed under in the Ken Starr’s investigation of corruption in Arkansas. Does anyone recall the files missing for two years, found with Hilary’s finger prints the day after the statue of limitations ran out? I find it quite telling that Ms. Clinton could not be elected to office in her home state of Arkansas — the people that supposedly knew her.

I am constantly on the watch for abuses of the democratic form of government as practiced in the United States, and I am sensitive to gross and overt manipulation of paid political advertising and press coverage. In the past I have been most concerned about perversions of information by labor unions attempting to place tainted and friendly polititions in office to the advantage of organized labor and often to the exclusion of legitimate interests of the local electorate. Let me put it this way: I find offensive anytime any organization brings money into my state on behalf of any candidate for office lower than the President of the United States. I find it a perversion of the common good when any organization brings money into a county or city in support or opposition to any issue or candidate. Where organized labor has a member or members in the local, county, district, or state, contributions need to be limited to the amount of union dues actually collected from said members, less expended service fees and taxes paid. My own personal feeling is that organized labor leadership and practices need to be held to a higher standard of ethics, morality, and and sense of citizenship than have been exhibited to my satisfaction in the last 40 years.

Back to the inauguration, Mrs. Boxer’s glib statement of ‘Time of War’, and the fact that the actions attributed to Mrs. Boxer seem to me to be a call to arms by the ‘Elect Hillary Clinton’ campaign office.

President George W. Bush is our president, and I wish for him to be the best possible President for the United States that he can be. I also wish that the Senate and House will diligently pursue their responsibilities to the best benefit of the United States.

Congress playing politics with the President goes on all the time. I hope to recall in 3 years that the Democrats, Sen. Barbara Boxer, and Hilary Clinton abused this occasion for selfish personal gain, to the detriment of the authority and prestige of the office of the President of the United States of America.

Grr.
