First words — making babies is more than sex.
Most of fashion, the law, and society is about making babies. Once society may have known that, but maybe not. We see glimpses that the drive to procreate (make babies) influences what we think and do. As a race we benefit from babies; individuals benefit from sex. These are two very different value systems. I intend to describe how this fits into fashion, teens and dating, marriage, divorce, and the law.
Let me state that many of my conclusions depart radically from what is assumed in church, school, government, or business.
The human race increased in number and endured through time because individuals survived to create young. There are many mechanisms that contribute to this success, and almost all of these mechanisms still motivate our choices, thinking, and actions today. The body creates pheromones and hormones that tend to initiate sexual contact between individuals. The body tends to be quite fertile, especially at younger ages even though sexual maturity is delayed past birth. Like history, ignore the chemistry of your body and your body will control you.
Today’s marketing attempts to connect various products and services to the body’s sex drive. Sex sells. We see the term ‘sexy’ used to promote houses, clothes, hairdo’s, cars, jobs, and food. This is wrong; it confuses the value of sex — making babies — with motivational manipulation. I consider this the second *true* social evil (the first is gossip — nothing good can come of gossip). Instead I want to think of sex as ‘making babies’, and the rest of the sexually oriented stimulations we encounter as ‘fun’, ‘intimidation’, or ‘deception’. I want to separate the value (making babies) from the liability (risk of being manipulated by others).
